Lamp from Beads

This lamp was inspired by one I saw by Michelle

Here is the lamp I made from beads. Just beads stacked. I stacked mine on an incense stick. Need something sturdier though.

The shade is made from a circle. Cut a circle, 2 or 3 inches. Then make a slit from the center of the circle out to one edge. Then pull and overlap the edges to make sort of an asian hat. Stick it down on the lamp and add more beads to the top. There is a long pretty clear bead you can't see that is under the shade.

The base is a macrame bead and the rest came from beaded christmas garland. Shade from wallpaper.

This was so much fun. I want to make more. Wide range of possibilities.

The hardest part was finding something the beads would fit on. The incense stick was the only thing I had. I'm now thinking of some sort of wire that is thin but sturdy. A long hat pin, long beaded straight pin or doll sculpting needle? I have some eye and head pins but they aren't that sturdy. I also thought about cut pieces of clothes hanger but my beads won't fit on them. Any more ideas?
