This is a technique I started doing in the early 2000s when I didn't want to reroot. I call it a permanent wig. Doesn't she look cute? (See instructions below). My Scene Madison donated the hair. Mikki had been waiting for hair a long time. lol Permanent wig: Paint the head to match the hair. Hot glue small curls around the hairline. Then glue hair starting at the bottom back from ear to ear moving towards the crown. Do small sections as the hot glue will dry fast. Then glue hair to the sides moving towards the top. Gently and lightly press hair down to the head ocassionally with the palm of your hand. Wait until the glue dries some to prevent glue from coming to the surface of the hair. Then at the very top, glue more hair. Decide which direction you want the hair on the top. Pull loose hair out, add more hair and/or trim as desired. This doll's hair is short at the top. This will work with straight hair, but curly hair is best as it hides the glue. If you use straight hair, apply the glue in thin lines. I would try it on a trash doll first. The only thing about using hot glue is it is hard to remove. I cut the hair really short and added new hair for the new Mikki (below). If anyone knows how to remove hot glue, I would love to know.
